George Forman

I have one! it's old but it works, I like how it closes so you can cook both sides at once. I like to make veggie burgers, stuff greek pita pockets, any kind of kabobs, I've grilled fish and even made my own naan bread on it. I've marinated chicken or have just used rubs...OH and cause it closes I've made my own panini's which were soooo good....I've also made my own dessert, grilled pears caramelized in maple syrup although they are better made on the BBQ. There's a lot you can do with it, you should definately get one.

Hi all
Hi everyone, I am new to FitClick and I am enjoying the site. My goal is to lose 10 pounds each month, so far not so good, but I want to be below 200 by the end of the month. I lack the motivation that I need and I am hoping that this will help me.

I love my George Forman, I use it to cook hamburgers, steak, chicken just about everything. I like that it cooks so much faster and the fat drains away from the meat. I usually just sprinkle the meat with Mrs Dash or something like that to add flavor.

I too probably drink 4 maybe 5 swallows of water a day. I just don't like drinking water, but I have found that I can drink a lot more if it is hot with a wedge of lemon. But it is still remembering to drink it, I am trying.

I am taking this journey 1 day and 1 pound at a time.

Misty

HI Buddies!
Hi Everyone,
Hi leunybin!! thanks for the welcome back I think everyone is in agreement about the grill you should get one. There are probably tons of recipes out there just type in 'recipes for george foreman grill' or low cal/fat sauces. Stuff like that. I use my crockpot and i'm always googling for things to make in that lol.
Hi Misty, i'm the same I love hot water and lemon but don't like drinking cold water so much its like medicine lol. Keep going you'll do it
henryswifey, Congrats on the 11lbs thats wonderful i'm so jealous lol.
Still not heard from the Doc's i'm so glad that I have good and bad days lol. Don't think I could handle the bad days all the time. I see that Kirsty Alley is on Dancing with the stars she said she has lost TWO dress sizes already!! I think there might be something in this dancing lark I mean have you seen Kelly Osbourne?? she is so slim now. I have Zumba and other workout DVD's I really should give it a try. Well, hope you all have a great weekend ~ Cathy.

Is it spring yet?????
Hi all!

Thanks for the recomendation on the George Forman. I did go buy one and we absolutely love it. My big question was what to cook other than a plain slab of meat. Thanks so much for the suggestion to google it. I never think of that. I did it, and there must be thousands of grill recipes out there. The first thing I cooked was just our breakfast sausage, and I overcooked that. It's just hard to believe how quickly things get done in there. Then I did some marinated chicken. I couldn't believe how moist and juicy that was. I am definitely sold on the product.

Henryswifey, yay for you!!!! 11 pounds is just awsome! And is has an added benefit of motivating you to do even more. I started the month full of motivation and watched as life just got in my way. I know April will be so much better just because I'll be able to get out on the bike again. I'm not going to let the outside influences of the last month repeat themselves in April.

Hi, Misty, and welcome to the club. Good philosophy, one day and 1 pound at a time. Sometimes the big picture is just too big to look at all at once. Narrowing the focus seems to help a lot.

Go forth all, sieze the day and make it yours!

Results Day!!!

Hey Everyone!

How did you all do this month? Me I only lost 5lbs but I know I gained muscle cause I can totally tell, my legs are sooo much stronger and my heart feels so much healthier....I didn't measure accurately but I know I've lost inches cause I can fit into a pair of jeans that I couldn't get past my thighs a month ago...they are still tight but I can get them on!

It's a new month let's all start another 10lb challenge...is everybody ready?

Also, if you didn't make your goal like I did...what you think went wrong and how are you gonna change that? Me...well I didn't diet, I ate what I wanted when I wanted including fast food, alls I did was do some high intensity max interval training (Insanity by Shaun T)...I know this is just the start of a whole new outlook on fitness for me....but my diet needs a change that's for sure.

Good luck everyone! Oh and for those of you who have kids and celebrate Easter....let's not count that weekend lol

Hey Everyone
Hey everyone, its been a few weeks. Glad to see the new people. Welcome and hope to keep seeing the posts. I really do enjoy reading everyone's posts. Keep it up.

Hey Rachel,
Stretch marks and excess skin are my new targets. I have did some research on both the subjects, and I am trying out some of the suggestions. The best remedy for both the stretch marks and excess skin is hydration. Keep hydrated inside and out, and vitamin E. I make sure I drink plenty of fluid and use moisturizing soap, lotion and exercise. I have noticed the skin tightening up and the stretch marks less noticeable. I really believe it will just take some time to shape up.

Hey Shena,
Glad to hear you are noticing and your efforts are being noticed. Its a good feeling and worth the effort. I know for me I usually get the Holy Crap line which is actually funny. A few times to play with people, I tell them I am Carl's brother. It has actually fooled a couple of them.

Good news I have been taken off my heart meds. My blood average blood pressure is down to 100/55 and my resting heart rate is down to 48. Since being taken off the meds, I have noticed I have a little more energy. Because of the energy I have lost a few more pound (not intentionally). I am now down to 169 lbs (228lbs total lost). I really don't need to go any lower. I am trying to actually gain some muscle weight. I plan to buy a body fat scale to see where I stand.

Does anyone have a body fat scale? Any suggestions?

On the subject of eating, I too have a George Foreman Grill. It is a great product. I use it for a lot of my vegetables and meats. It works great.

Hey Carl, That is phenomenal!! your health has improved dramatically. I laughed out loud at being your brother hehe. Still can't wait to see your pics

SPRING AT LAST!!!
Hey all!
Yes, at long last it is finally here, and with it, my motivation seems to have returned. Down a couple of pounds to start the month. Curves is offering a zumba type class so I've been attending a couple of those during members free week. I really enjoy it. Of course all of us old ladies look like a bunch of frogs in a frying pan flopping around, but it's all in good fun and we laugh a lot. Laughing's good exercise too, right?? My bike is finally out of the garage and back on the road. Of course the first night I put a 2 1/2 inch nail thru my tire and didn't have a spare tube. It cut my ride short, but in return I got a 15 minute walk back to the house so it was all good. Temps in the high 70s today so I'll be out on the bike tonight!

Carl, that sounds like too much fun pretending to be a whole different person! Sometimes we'd all like to do that!

I've been trying a lot of different things on my grill. Last night was the first time I did veggies on it. Asparagus and yellow bell peppers. I'm amazed at how much easier it is to eat right now. Grilled meat, chicken or fish with a salad and now some grilled veggies and I hardly even miss my beloved potatoes!

Yay to you, Sheenah! I'm glad you're seeing results, even when you misbehaved! It's just fun to fit in things you didn't before. After last summers weight loss I got to go thru my closet and remove the stuff that was too big and dig out the stuff that used to be too small. Lots of fun. I'm hoping to do it again at the end of this summer.

Hey, Shirleep it sounds like you are off to a really good start. Congrats!

Cat, sorry to hear about the flu from hell. that will set a body back a long way. Seems to take forever to recuperate. Do you suppose they are ever going to come up with an answer for you??

Hope all are doing well and ready for a great summer of weigh loss!
