Getting faster....

Yesterday I completed a 4 mile race.  I shaved 10 minutes off my time and I ran the whole thing.  Last year I had to walk some and  was amazed at those that ran more.  This year, I was one of those that ran more. Getting stronger/faster, feeling good.

Marathon Here I come!!!

Last week I started week 1 of a 16 week program to run the Sunburst Marathon May31st.  15 miles total last week and I did it.  This isnow is not helping things...  Come on Spring.

Mission Accomplished!

Well this Saturday I ran my last race of the year.  My goal for 2013 was to run every race in my city and I DID IT!!!!  21 races.  Most were 5k races, but for someone who has never ran a race before EVER, I am pretty proud.  I ran everything from a 5k to a half marathon.  Next year I am planning on at least two full marathons and a triathlon.  If you think you cannot do, think again.  YOU CAN DO IT.  Just sign up and go.  Even if you walk i

One year ago I started down the path to a new me.  I had two goals that I made for 2013: 1) Lose weight 2) Run all the races in my city.  One year later, I have two more races to go and I have no doubts I will complete them.  I have ran everything from a 5k to a half marathon.  I am also 85 lbs. lighter than when I started.  Things are going well, but I cannot give up.  Looking at 2014, I have a few goals.... I am now officially under 300!  It has been a while since I have been under 300.  At least 5 years.  It amazes me how easy it is to put on.  Ten months ago I was closer to 400 and closing fast.  Now I am healthier, happier, and looking forward to my next goal of losing 100 lbs.  25 lbs to go and I am there.  I have old pants that are just ready and waiting to be worn.  I might even go out and get some new things.... It has been a month since my last post.  I ran the Bix 7 with a personal best.  Along the way, I met a 74 yr old lady who was running her 29th Bix.  With it being my first, there was no way I was going to quit at that point.  We talked along the way and at the end she was 4 minutes slower than last year and I was ten minutes faster than I have ever ran the course!  Now I working towards my 10 mile race in two weeks.  I have run twice 10 miles, but it is p

HOT, HOT, HOT!

I ran my last organized training run last night before the Bix 7 race next Saturday.  Obviously with the heat they made some annoucements.  Stay hydrated (check, I had my hydration pack for the trip), go slow (check, I am always last, but that is okay), and watch for other runners who might look fatigued.  What!  I understand what they are getting at, but that meant EVERY runner was looking at me as they passed me headed back.  I had to keep making jokes

Meetings

Stronger

This was a good week.  I am running more and farther.  People are noticing my weight loss more and I got new shoes!  Proper equipment is essential.  I was running in a 11 year old pair of trail running shoes that I never wore.  They were too tapered for my foot.  Although they were okay, my feet were killing me afterwards.  The new shoes provide the best cushion and support for the long runs.  Looking forward to the next training run this Thurs. Balance

SO I have been running / exercising for about seven months now.  I am finding lately that the biggest issue I am having right now is balance.  Balancing eating, balancing exercising, balancing time.  I find myself eating more because I'm hungry because I am exercising.  Because I am eating more, my body becomes more lethargic and doesn't want to exercise.  So I end up fiddling around with things to where it ends up I either exercise later at night, or
