In a large saucepan, place an inch of salted water. Add the cauliflower. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 5 minutes. Drain.

Stir in the cheese, sour cream, onion, 2 tablespoons butter and salt. Transfer to a greased baking dish.

Combine the bread crumbs and remaining butter; disperse over the top. Bake, uncovered, at 350 degrees F for 30 minutes.
