Melt butter over medium heat. Stir in flour

Add Milk 1 cup at a time. Stir continuously and let mixture "puff" before each addition. Add onion, salt and pepper and remove from heat. Cover with wax paper

Peel potatoes, rinse but do not put in water. Slice thin.

Grease a heavy lasagna pan. Layer sauce, potatoes, sauce, ham, sauce, potatoes, sauce

Sprinkle parmesan cheese on top. Bake, uncovered at 325 degrees for 2 hours
