Directions:
1
In a 6 qt kettle simmer on low to medium heat 1 medium onion, celery, green pepper, garlic, tomato sauce, tomato paste, diced tomatoes, italian seasoning, basil, worcestershire, sugar, vinegar, red pepper, 1 tsp salt, 1 tsp pepper and about 1 cup of water for consistency.
2
For the meat mixture combine milk, egg, bread crumbs, oatmeal, mustard, oregano, garlic salt, 1 medium onion, 1 tsp salt and 1 tsp pepper together in large skillet with heat turned off with hands.
3
Add the ground beef and ground sausage to the mix in skillet and brown on medium heat.
4
Once meat mixture is about completely browned add to sauce mix in kettle.
5
More water may be added for desired consistency.
6
Cook on low heat for 5-6 hours. A large crock pot may be used on low heat.

Note: Meat mixture can be omitted if you just want a sauce or it may be made into meat balls. For meat balls just don't cook the meat in skillet. Mix all meat ingredients together in a large bowl and shape into small to medium balls and add to sauce to cook.

Freezes well. Just reheat.
