Directions:

brown ground beef in a medium sized (about 2 qt) pot and drain in a colander, rinsing with hot water to remove more fat.

put beef back into pot on medium heat. add the dry spices and stir, cooking until fragrant, about 5 minutes. add the tomato sauce, beans (liquid and all) and 2 cups of water to the pot.

stir and bring up to a simmer, then reduce heat to medium low/low, allowing to cook until the flavors have melded together, about 2.5 hrs, stirring occasionally.

serve with sour cream and cheese, if desired.

Crock Pot directions: brown meat as directed, then put into a crock pot with all of the other ingredients. stir well and cook on low for 5-8 hrs.
