Chewy Chocolate Caramel Bars

15-1/4  ounces		2-layer-size German chocolate cake mix
3/4  cup		butter, melted
5  ounces		evaporated milk
14  ounces		vanilla caramels, unwrapped
1  cup		chopped walnuts
6  ounces		1 cup semisweet chocolate

Step 1
Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 13x9x2-inch baking pan; set aside.
Step 2
In a large mixing bowl beat cake mix, melted butter, and 1/3 cup of the evaporated milk with an electric mixer on medium speed until smooth. Spread half of the dough in the prepared baking pan. In a large heavy saucepan cook and stir caramels and the remaining 1/3 cup evaporated milk over medium-low heat until melted and smooth. Pour caramel mixture over dough in pan. Sprinkle with nuts and chocolate pieces. Crumble the remaining dough over layers in pan.
Step 3
Bake for 25 minutes. Cool in pan on a wire rack. Cut into bars.
