Peel and cut potatoes into strips. Place into a bowl of cold water.

In a bowl, mix together flour, baking powder, salt, and pepper. Stir in milk and egg until smooth.

Preheat oil in a large pot.

Fry potatoes until hot. Drain on paper towels.

Dredge fish in the batter, one piece at a time. Place in oil and fry until golden brown. Drain well on paper towels.
