Cook ziti noodles al dente (8 to 10 minutes).

In a large skillet, brown the ground beef with the onions. Add spaghetti sauce and let simmer for 15 minutes.

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Butter 9x13 inch baking dish. Layer 1/2 of the ziti, provolone cheese, sour cream, sauce and meat mixture, remaining ziti, mozzarella cheese, reaming sauce and meat mixture, and finally top with grated paremesan.
