Directions:  
Sift the flour, baking powder, soda, and salt together in a bowl and set aside.
Cream the shortening; gradually add sugar and continue creaming. Add beaten eggs and bananas and mix well. Add the flour mixture alternately with the combined buttermilk and vanilla, beginning and ending with the flour. Pour into two 9 inch layer pans that have been greased and floured. Bake at 375 for 25 to 30 minutes.
Frost with Butter Cream Frosting.
