Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. and grease 2 9-inch round cake pans.
In a large bowl, combine cake mix, eggs oil and the amount of water that the package instructions call for. Mix thoroughly and divide batter between the two pans. Bake for about 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean.
Meanwhile, sprinkle 1/2 cup sugar over strawberries and set aside at room temperature for 30 minutes.
15 minutes before serving, combine cream and remaining sugar in a medium bowl and whip either by hand or with an electric mixer until stiff peaks form.
Place one of the cake layers on a serving platter and top with half of the strawberries and half of the whipped cream. Top with remaining cake layer, the rest of the whipped cream and strawberries.
Serve and enjoy.
