Does Monday hold the key?

A "Healthy Lifestyle" - I'm seriously thinking about trying one out.

When titling my blog, title phrases like "No More Excuses" and "It's Time to Take Action" initially crossed my mind, but I quickly realized that I'd only be kidding myself. Thing is, I've said (and convinced myself of) such things in the past, yet have always been able to find an excuse and ignore the time to take action towards the journey to a healthier lifestyle.

That’s not to say that I’ve never given it a shot. I have. That journey I speak of has always gone something like this: mentally conjuring up an exercise regimen and diet; actually getting my butt to the gym; afterward, feeling great about my workout, eating a healthy and tasty meal, and vowing to keep it up; later that day, drinking a glass of wine to reward myself and unwind; the next morning, waking up too late to make it to the gym; at work, thinking about hitting the gym before dinner; after work, feeling burnt out and not the least bit in the mood to do anything but curl up on the couch and therefore, doing just that - and this is pretty much they way it has always played out.

There have been times when I've been consistent on following through with the gym visits, healthier eating habits, etc. for a week and sometimes several weeks, but in the end, it has always come to a halt with excuses and just pure laziness. The last time, a couple of months ago, I kept up my routine for almost two months. That’s probably my record. But then I had friends and family in town and a two-week vacation… I’m sure you know where I’m going with that. Since my record of consistent healthy behavior went off course, I’ve tried to get back into it. At least once a week, I’ve made it to the gym.

This week, I am hoping that’ll change and there’s no better day than a Monday to start. This morning, I woke up at 6:00 am, was at the gym by 6:45 am, done with my workout by 8:00 am and at work by 9:00 am. During lunch, for which I had a healthy salad, I remembered this website and decided to give it a shot. I filled out the workout to reflect my accomplishments at the gym and checked out the routine FitClick has in store for me tomorrow. I also recorded what I’ve eaten thus far – the nutritional content counter really gave me a clearer picture of what I'm ingesting.

If you’re reading this, I’m sure that you’ve already discovered the easy to use FREE tools this awesome website has to offer. I’ve never blogged before, but I’m hoping that this will be one more tool I can use to stay on track – even if it’s just for an extra kick to my motivation. My goal is to have at least five workouts logged in by next Monday. Wish me luck! Actually, no, luck is not what I need. What I need is determination and ambition to follow through… and that, my friends, only I can wish for myself (and hopefully, implement).
