Hello All,

Allow me to introduce myself, I'm a 38 soon to be 39 year old male who has over the years let himself go.  I have always had a love hate relationship with food.  I enjoy to eat and cook but have always had issues with portion control.  These issue led to overeating, this compounded with a seditary lifestyle has caused my weight at it's worst to balloon to over 360 lbs.  I'm not exactly sure how high my weight actually got, but I knew that it was at least 360 lbs.

Between work and excuses I never found time to exercise and also used these same excuses to eat out or order out rather than cook at home.   With the diagnosis of Type 2 Diabetis and seeing the amount of money that we were spending on eating and ordering out I knew that I needed to make a change.

March 25th of 2009 was the official start of my journey to become healthy.  I was tired of having to use a seat belt extension on an airplane and was getting big enough that I was unable to do some activities because of my size.  I began going to the gym, of course I've had a membership to this gym for over a year and just never went.  It was rough at first but I've been going at least 4 times a week and have gone from 360 lbs to currently 316 lbs.    I still have 116 lbs to acheive my goal but I am encouraged by the progress so far.  I have become to realize that it is much easier to add the weight than it is to loose the weight.  This reality has really begun to help me with choosing the right foods to eat.

I wish all who are fighting the same fight much success and look forward to posting more updates.

Ben S.
