I just joined FitClick yesterday and am excited to be apart of a social network that will keep me motivated and help me stay on track. I am trying to be as proactive as I can about my health.
I want to create a fitness routine that I will stick to. One that is fun but challenging. I am not a runner, so I get my cardio from walking workouts. I plan to spend at least 20 minutes a day doing interval speed walking, ranging from 3.0-4.5mph every three minutes. I've done this workout before and after the first couple days I could feel my muscles working all over my body, especially my abs. But doing the same boring routine isn't as motivating, so I'd like to do a different workout once a week to mix up the routine. I'm anxious to do just about anything! Play a sport with friends, swim laps for 30 minutes on a hot summer day, take a yoga class, rent rollerblades for an afternoon and skate around the city, go hiking or rock climbing, or just take my workouts to the beach or park when the weather is good.
I also want to start eating right. Watch my calorie counts, cut out the sodas and sugary snacks, and stock up on fruits and veggies. I want to eat smaller meals throughout the day and avoid eating anything heavy after 8pm for better digestion at night.
I feel I have a pretty good understanding of how to eat right and stay fit, the problem is my commitment and motivation. I work 40 hours at a grocery store and never have a set schedule, so planning a workout routine varies week to week. Plus, just like a kid looking forward to a star by his name when he accomplishes something, I need that extra support from friends and family to keep me going, not to mention I look forward to seeing results right away.
I know that I'm young and healthy already, so I may not see a difference immediately, but I know that all of this work will benefit my health in the future and keep me feeling and looking young the older I get.
With the month of March beginning tomorrow, I vow to utilize the tools provided on FitClick to keep me motivated and dedicated to becoming a better me.
