I am 23 years old 6'1 out of Bend Oregon. I had a minor tear in in my right knee late december skiing up at Mt. Bachelor I was 220 at the time. I had torn my acl 2 year years prior up there in my left knee and the new injury made me open my eyes to the fact that I needed to lose some excess pounds. I had gained some extra pounds nursing my knee and I was up to 225 230 and knew I need to do something drastic to my diet or I was in trouble due to my limited ability to exercise. So I started dieting around Jan. 8th weighing about 225 and found this website Jan. 13. My first week of self dieting was completely blind and unstructured. Though I had lost 8 pounds in a week I knew from the start it wasn't going to last and I new it was very unhealthy to just supplement and eat very little. So I got on the internet some how stumbled upon this site still not sure how, then started poking around and started using the calorie counter immediately. I found out how many calories, fat, carbs and protein I was getting in every serving of food I ate. So that was a life saver with my diet but the workout tracker really helped see my progress with my workouts and how drastically they effected my total calories for the day. There are much more things the site had to offer to help keep me motivated and to keep up the new lifestyle. Over the next few weeks I was doing great in my knee rehab and had started swimming again since a child and I was down to about 205 lbs and feeling great. I taught my self how to swim using you tube videos on how to do a freestyle stroke and thats when I knew I could do a triathlon. I had done some running and cycling last spring and summer but quit after my wedding sept. 19th. So I started training around Feb 7th for the pacific crest olympic triathlon on June 27th! So now it is May 2nd and I am 178 pounds, 3 pounds from my target weight and I'm running my first 9 miler this week training for my first half marathon June 13. I am swimming a mile and half a few days a week, and I'm riding my first 40 miler this week on my new KHS triathlon bike. All in all my life has done a 360 and I feel AMAZING, I have a heightened since of self worth and a major boost of confidence! My wife has now joined in all the fun lost 20 pounds and we are doing the Deschutes dash olympic triathlon here in Central Oregon in mid July!!! I am convinced I would not have made it this far if I didn't have this site to help me along the way!!!
