Texas Half Marathon Countdown - 132 Days

Well, we did a bit over a 4 mile run this week (plus 2.5 miles of walking before and after). Next week we're scheduled to do 5 miles for our long run. I was pretty fatigued by 4 miles but I'm proud of what we did and I'm looking forward to pushing myself next week.
This was also the first week I tried doing it with my iPod. I liked it! I listened to the Marathon Talk podcast and I found it inspiring and involving to listen to while I ran. My legs ached quite a bit this week so the distraction provided by the Marathon Talk guys was just wonderful! It really helped get me through. It also didn't hurt that the person they interviewed is Chris Thompson who is famous for pushing himself (and for bringing home the silver to Britain in the Olympics). I'd like to get a smaller iPod though. Mine is pretty big. I'm thinking of saving up for a Nano.
I'm taking a cold bath immediately upon returning from our long runs and I think it is helping my muscles recover faster. Of course, the bathwater isn't all that cold coming out of the tap since the days here are hitting 100 degrees but I'm not adding ice to it. I'll leave that exercise in masochism to the people who run Badwater.
We have 17 more weeks in the plan. I'm trying my best to progress without injury.
