This is a double post; I am still posting in the curves site; who knows, they may reserect it and if they do,l i will still be there.
Well, it’s been awhile but I’ve been a busy girl. Spent a week down in Salem, MA over Halloween; that was a riot. All of October is Halloween there. Everyday there were people wandering around in costume. Lots of stuff for kids to do, great food too. Indian cooking, found a great sushi place, a great breakfast place and then my friends fed me very well. Put on three pounds which I lost with a few days of the phase one. Last week, went on another period of not so eating so I’m back on phase one again.
I’ve been doing a lot of housecleaning again, trying to find the floor in here. I have so much sewing stuff. As I sort, I am finding more medieval garb that I started making and then found didn’t fit so I d stuffed it into a tote. I remember being so discouraged. I have unearthed 3 pure linen dresses that I left unfinished because they were too small and now they fit. I figure I can lose about another 20 pounds before I have to take them apart and rework them completely.
When I was visiting Salem I did quite a bit of sewing for my host and hostess; he’s a big tall man so there just isn’t anything in Italian Renaissance in his size. He now has a lovely unbleached cotton shirt that is as soft as can be and a simple forest green vest to go with it. He looks fabulous due in no small part to the happy grin on his face when he put it on.
My girlfriend and I have both lost weight so we’re still close enough to the same size that what fits me will pretty much fit her as well; it just has to be a whole lot shorter for her. Italian Ren is very forgiving in fit. Since she is doing Ren Faires rather than re-enacting, I don’t have to worry about the authenticity of the fabric quite so much. I’ve seen costuming in silver lame!
The ‘ex’ was never into this stuff but this new fella is loving it so they do the Faires as a family . Her daughter is getting her girlie shape so that’s more costuming there and her son is into the Role Play fantasy stuff so there’s more potential for fun sewing. Ren stuff isn’t my time really, but sometimes it’s good for a change so I’ll make myself some too. We sometimes have events which are specifically Renaissance so the clothing won’t go amiss.
I went to the curves in Marblehead while I was there. Very, very nice staff member. The Manager came in as I was preparing to leave and I enjoyed meeting her as well. (Pictures included) This was pin number 7 or 8 on the maps for me. (that indicates another story coming up and another pin)
So that’s a brief synopsis for up until this past Wednesday.
