Well today is recovery day 4 - My foot is feeling much better and I am able to get around a lot better now that I am using a walker. The crutches just do not allow for the necessary mobility I need to eat and just get around. The pain is finally getting better - I have not needed any pain meds today so far. I still have my foot elevated and iced a couple of times a day. Earlier this week I was frustrated by the lack of mobility and thinking that I thought all of the possibilites and problems before the surgery. But when I realized that I could not even make coffee (not enought hands) I became frustrated. Then I looked and saw the snow on my car and the fact that I needed to have my parking space plowed and could not do that either. I have wonderful friends who have offered to help, but I have never been in the position to totally rely on them. But as things work out, my car was cleaned off, the space was plowed, the coffee maker was moved to a better area, and I now use a walker. All thanks to friends - friends who care. This will be a long recovery in this cast. And i guess I am learning to rely and ask for help. This will be a learning expierence for me.
