May it go better this time around...

Wow. So the last time I tried to make a lifestyle change was about a year ago. Something about April must spark my interest in exercising and eating healthy..I bet it has to do with the weather slowly getting warmer, and summer looming ahead. Summer is really not the friendliest season for those of us who do not enjoy bathing suits, shorts, tank tops, etc. I much prefer fall/winter when I can layer and wear clothing that keeps me feeling comfy. Ahh well. Here we go again!
So this time I have decided to take a more realistic approach. I have written some smaller goals to begin. Just like when I am writing goals for kiddos I do speech therapy with, I am going to focus on the short term goals, keeping in mind the long term goal of a happier, healthier, longer life.
I also feel like this is good timing because our wedding is approximately 500 some days away. 500 seems like a decent number to me, and a lot can happen in 500 days. I like having an end goal or date in mind.
So, my goals are:
1. Walk the dog 5 times a week.
2. Eat out only 1x per week for lunch. It has to be either Subway or a salad from somewhere..so relatively healthy...and better than Culvers or Arbys or whatever else I am usually getting.
3. Eat out only 1x per week for dinner.
4. Eat 1 full serving of fruit and vegetables a day.
5. Do one other exercise related activity (besides walking) per week. Such as jogging, biking, exercise video, etc.
So we are starting out small and eventually adding more goals. My long term goals are:
1. To run again! I really did like running in the end. I hated getting up to do it, I hated doing it, but afterwards I felt so good. I want to be able to run again for 30-40 minutes without having to stop...it has been almost 8 years since I have done that!
2. I would like to get down to my goal weight of 170 by the time of my wedding. I have a little over 500 days to do this, that is 73ish weeks, which ends up being about 1 lb per week...completely doable in the amount of time I have.
So there it is. I hope that having this blog will keep me honest and make me more motivated/accountable. I am going to go get myself a nice fancy scale for my official weigh-in on Sunday...then it begins Sunday May 1st!
