Vacation Binge! and the Perfect 10 Diet

Just got back from Emerald Isle, NC. First half of week, I did pretty well, but the second half was a disaster. Tomorrow morning the scale will tell. Still, even the bad days weren't as bad as they had been in the past. I didn't go overboard on sweets or pastries. So I am encouraged. The backdrop is that about two weeks ago, I began the "Perfect Ten" diet. I had read the book and was struck by the physician's concern about the nutritional chemistry of our hormonal systems. His point is that there are about 10 hormones being produced in our bodies that vitally affect our health, and, that what we eat essentially controls those hormones. Further, he is very pro-organic and anti-preservative and anti-sugar and sweetener in most any form except fresh fruit. His ratios are fat 40%, protein 40% and carbs 20%. It is different from Adkins as he is referring to "good" fats. Like Adkins, he is a proponent of "unprocessed carbs." So there are lots of eggs, cheese, whole milk, chicken, fruit and vegetables. Multi-grains are off the list for the first three weeks. One of the things I have noticed is that my cravings for sweets diminished within 48 hours of beginning the diet. Honest-to-Pete, I am satisfied and not hungry. His explanation is the high fat and protein intake. The first ten days, I lost 5 pounds. This works with the Diet Tracker on this site as you just key in the 20-40-40 percentages in the appropriate spaces at the top of the Daily Menu tracker. So I will keep you posted.
