One Month Down

Okay - So we're (I'm) one month in!  I took it very easy during the recovery week.  I couldn't do the same exercises every day for a whole week so I only did 3 of the 6 days but I kept eating as healthy as I could.  During the day I have been doing great with meal plans and making next days food every night.  This has been the biggest success so far.  I've been eating so very well and that's where the weight gets lost.  No soda for 5 weeks, (I fannly broke down today and had a can of Diet Mountain Dew:)  and I don't really like it!  I've had so much fruits and vegetables that the bathroom has not been a problem with a huge increase in protein as well.  I've had no problems getting bored with a diet either.  I've essentially been following the plan that comes with Insanity but taking off Sundays from worrying about what I eat as well.  I know it's not great to throw a bunch of crap at your body when it's used to real good food but it;s been a welcome day to eat pasta, Superbowl food and making some less than healthy things to eat.  So far I'm down almost 10 pounds but I know that's a lkittle schewed because I didn't have a scale for my first weigh in...  still thinking it was about 190 pounds to start so I'm down 8.5 in 5 weeks...  Not bad and I've been getting more and more hungry lately.  I guess my metabolism is really geraed up for this now.

I am not concerned with getting "ripped" I just want to be healthier.  Thus, I decided to do again the first month of insanity before going to month 2.  I did great in weeks 2, 3 and 4 and really saw some improvements in my output but I want to make sure I can complete more of the exercises at a higher level before moving on.  I think by the end of March I should be in great shape and have lost ALL of the belly fat I am trying to shed.

Notes on motivation - For me it's been a fun month!  I have owned a heart rate monitor for some time and never had it hooked up, the band was broken for 2 months so there it sat.  I got a new band, input all my information into this smart little watch and hooked it up to the heart rate belt that goes around my chest.  It's been fun to track workouts, see my success and really get to use the watch as it was intended.  One other cool feature is it has a "coach" built into it and it makes recomendations on how hard you should be working out and although I haven't used it yet, will be fun to track runs as I start to train for the Bolder Boulder in April.

I think by then I'll be in the best shape I've ever been and I am excited to try for a time in the 40's for the 10K race Memorial Day!!!

Progress takes time and it's been a struggle the last 2 weeks to get the exercise in but I've been antsy to start back up and look forward to sweating again hard tonight!
