Living in Germany is proving a bit difficult with some of the foods or brands...they're simply not available or are so extremely seasonal that they are not available off season without tons of added salt or sugar, sometimes both. There are some good substitutes, and it's taking me a bit to find them.
Finally getting the hang of this...though eating 5 times a day is a bit rough...I can't seem to have managed it the last couple of days.
So, with that in mind, I'm going to go ahead and ditch the pre-programmed bits and strike out on my own, still going for a bit higher protein, but fewer quantities of the suggested food and snacks. I won't meet the targeted calorie requirements (will be below) but think that will still be ok as long as I try to keep it balanced out.
Will also have to start utilizing my own recipes as many of the packaged foods are not available either...fresh is the leader here...thankfully! It's also a bit trickier as I have several allergies that don't allow me to eat prepared foods, but as a former professional cook, I'm up for the challenge of creating healthy and tasty meals using fresh ingredients.
Bring it on!
