after one week

Well, clearly my holiday eating and happy hours added water bloat because I lost 6.5 lb in the first week. I did stick to my 4 meals approach, never had any portionless salty snacks, and eliminated all alcohol calories except for two white wine spritzers on Sunday. Two people, two spritzers each over a couple hours of Christmas decorating and there was still a half bottle of wine left. I believe I need to readjust my thinking about how many wine calories I typically consume.
This week my goal is to add in real exercise - the kind that raises your heart rate and makes you sweat. Right now, my only regular exercise is dog walking. We have had the dog for 5 years, and we got him from a puppy mill. He used to be anxious and full of nervous energy so walking 3+ miles per day was part of our training routine. Now, he is relaxed and happy and stares at me like have I have two heads when I want to continue a walk after he has done his business. So I can't count dog walking really and need to make some other form of exercise a priority.
