So, once again it has began. I've constantly struggled with my weight for basically my entire life. Growing up, I was involved with sports year round, and had a fantastic body because of it. However, I was never satisfied with myself and would always stand infront of the mirror, poking and proding at parts of my body that weren't "perfect". Years later, I would love to go back in time and shake some sense into that 15 year old self of mine and scream "YOU'RE CRAZY! STOP WORRYING ABOUT YOUR BODY, IT'S BEAUTIFUL!"
8 years later, standing up at a height of 5'6 and weighing in at 205 pounds, I'm really disappointed in myself. Finally a graduate from college with a degree in English Secondary Education, I have no excuses for not dieting. In the past, between working and being a full-time student and student teaching, I had no energy left at the end of the day to hit the gym, and meals consisted of fast food or chain restaurants. Not any more!
Recently I've married the man of my dreams and we will both be moving back to Australia on March 24th, 2013. I have made it my goal to lose as much weight as possible within these next few months. I'm embarrassed at how much weight I've gained back AFTER losing a lot of it in Australia a year and a half ago. There is NO WAY I'm letting people back there see me as I am now, especially his family, although I know they would love me no matter how I looked.
Here is the PLAN:
1. My step-father is in the beginning processes of getting gastric bypass surgery. With that being said, before any of the testing can begin, he needs to lose 40lbs by dieting. He has been given a high protein, low carb diet plan, and I've decided to jump on the band wagon.
2. The plan includes eating a maximum of 100 carbs a day (this will be extremely hard for me because I LOVE CARBS! Breads, Candy, Fried Food - you name it, I probably love it.
3. Drink plenty of water, and eat loads of chicken and fish. Protein Protein Protein!
4. Hit the gym.
Results after day 1:
It was extremely hard, but I succeeded. Limiting my carbs gave me a headache all day, and I felt really light headed. However, after some research, I found that this is your body's way of withdrawing from the sugar and caffeine it normally craves from carbs - this fact made me feel better. The headaches should leave within a few days, and this diet should get easier with time.
Unfortunately, carbs do tend to help fill you up, so with mine being limited, each meal I would eat, but I haven't felt satisfied yet. I hope with time, my stomach will begin to shrink and I'll be able to feel full and satisfied after smaller meals.
Heres to hoping and succeeding!
