Well, it was nearly one year to the day that my husband passed away, age 59. I had started the previous year(2011) losing weight and exercising. With his illness and subsequent death, I was derailed and regained 20 lbs, but have resumed a healthy lifestyle, eating healthy and exercising again. This past year has been difficult and stressful, but I have learned so many things about myself...things that a mirror doesn't show..I am strong and resilient, I still have a great sense of humor, people admire me and actually care about me, and there is nothing I can't do if I decide to do it. I have also learned that we take life for granted, every single minute is precious. We should stop focusing on how many calories we consume, how much exercise we do, and stop beating ourselves up if we don't make our goals. Life is a journey, not a competion with ourselves. Happiness doesn't come from looking like a super model, it comes from within ourselves, and living a good life is the most important thing we can do. That being said, we should all strive to care for ourselves, care for our bodies and our spirits.... eat to live, not live to eat, be fit to live, not live to be fit, and love unconditionally and always forgive willingly and earnestly. :)
