Getting started

I am ready to get rid of these 25 pounds I've picked up going back to college. I'm middle aged and graduating in four months. I intended to gain a bachelor's degree, not 25 pounds! "Pleasingly plump" doesn't look so good after 40...
I think the biggest challenge I'm facing so far is PORTION CONTROL! After learning how many calories I've been consuming using the diet tracking on this website, it's no wonder my jeans have expanded well into the double-digit sizes. I weight more now than I did when I was pregnant, and have never been in such bad shape. Time for a change. When I'm up late studying, I've been relying on snacking on high-calorie foods as an energy boost and to keep the hunger pangs away. But somehow after about 9:30 pm I think my appetite control center in my brain must short circuit, because I crave junk food and high calories foods like I haven't eaten all day. The best solution of course is to go to bed, but when you have an assignment due the next day that sometimes isn't an option. Anyway, giving in is no longer the way to do things, unless I want to start a new professional chapter of the Society of Largest Women Engineers.
