The product that I bought was Apple iPhone 7, which is a mobile phone. The reason why I purchased it is that I watched the advertisement and the attractive features described and the language used influenced my choice. The overall image of the product created by the advertiser made the phone look much better and different from all other phones. In this ad demographic and psychographic segmentation is evidenced since it appeals to a specific audience and the customer group which I refer myself to. The performance-based advertising demonstrating the unique features also attracted me and I decided to buy the phone as the comparison between iPhone 7 and other phones made it look outstanding.

The new digital advertisement technologies have made it possible to become more engaged while observing an advert because it can be found not only in traditional media like magazines but also on the Internet. The analyzed advertising video posted on YouTube displays a phone that has a stereo speaker which produces soft and high-quality sound that attracts people around so much that they even turn back to listen to the music. This ad brings out the aspect of entertainment that the phone gives. Also, it shows how a woman uses iPhone in a pouring rain and raindrops cover the phone. This shows that iPhone 7 is water-resistant. The advertisement also shows the ability to capture distanced objects and bring them closer for viewing. This is because of the dual camera that takes better shots due to its larger f1.8 aperture and the new sensor. Also, the six-element lens enables brighter and more detailed photos and videos. While watching the ad, I realized that different attractive colors of the phone are demonstrated, namely white, gold, silver, rose gold, black and jet black. The device is also convenient to carry around since it has a 5.5 inch display and is light.

Before buying the phone, I was much aware of it from the media; the constant access to the Internet made it possible for me to keep revisiting the website and get more information about the product. The advertisement greatly influenced my urge to buy the phone; without seeing the demonstrated features and models of the phone, I would not have had the desire to purchase it. The video stimulated my interest to know more about the phone and eventually buy it and use it to enjoy the luxury of it. I was especially impressed with the brightness of the Quad-LED True Tone Flash. Before buying the phone, I watched the advertisement and enjoyed watching people take pictures, which made me eager to purchase the phone as I am interested in taking photos and videos.

The luxury item that I once bought was a bottle of cologne. The reason why I bought it was because my friends were using it and I decided to do the same. I thought maybe I should also have a good fragrance like any other person around. Every time I smelled the perfume, it reminded me of my friends as if they were right beside me even if they were miles away. Before purchasing that cologne, I watched ads of different colognes and became keen to choose the best. The advertisement did help me a lot because I read on the Internet about the offered colognes and later I went to the shop in search of a particular product that would let me wear a fresh and clean scent suitable for any occasion. To my mind, the advertisement sometimes seems to exaggerate the qualities of the product to win the market as the advertisers aim is to encourage a continuous cash flow. The ad seemed to focus more on the qualities that were part of the persons image created by the product considering the advertising slogan. At the same time I could not just buy something as expensive as the chosen cologne without planning my budget and deciding to make a purchase accordingly. Therefore, the reasons for my discretionary spending were not identical to the theme expressed in the ad, where the advertiser focuses on the impression the perfume makes without considering the products price.
