The essay draws attention to the main badminton strategies in double positioning. These types of exercises are especially useful for those players who have less two years of experience.

The first strategy focuses more on defense. Before one partner hits, another one must move to the center so that this area is not empty. Inexperienced players often make a common mistake – instead of moving to the center of the court, they watch their partner’s moves. During the game it is important for the player to say “smash” or “clear”, and depending on what he or she says the position has to be changed again. For example, one player smashes and goes to the center behind the front player who remains on his place. When the player says “clear” both players stay side by side. When the player says “net”, he or she moves forward to the net while another player moves to the center and remains behind the front player. After the player says “lift”, he or she moves backwards and both players stand side by side in the defense position.

Another important positioning strategy in doubles after low or flick service includes the following: after a short service both players must take the center of the court in front of the net, one player behind another with the same timing. After a long (flick) service each player must move to the sides of the court and stand side by side with the same timing and be ready because the opponent may hit at any moment.

When talking about the last strategy it is important to mention that when one player serves short, he must stay at the net. If the player serves long, it is necessary to move back to be side by side. It is necessary to remember that whenever your partner hits clear, then you need to move side by side. If the partner does drop or smash, the player must stay at the net. In order to make it easier for the players who have not done it before it is advisable to say what shot the player is going to do. Usually, it is done only during practice, not in a real match.

These positioning strategies are very helpful for badminton players, especially for those who do not have much experience. It will help them practice and improve their skills playing in doubles.
