Workouts To Keep You Fit From Your Desk

Most of us spend a lot of time at our desks; whether it’s at the office of our 9-5 job, or spending
time doing our hobbies after the work day is complete. Although it’s something that we largely
can’t avoid, it’s not the best for our health.
Sitting in an upright position all day can lead to back problems if you don’t adopt the right
posture, it’s taking away time that you could be up and active. When we’re all supposed to have
at least 30 minutes of exercise a day, any time spent at the desk is making this much harder to
achieve. But, you don’t need to worry! Today, we’ll be talking about some easy exercises that
you can do throughout the day while you’re at your desk to keep active and move your body.
Playing Games is Fun, But You Need to Move
You would think that people spend most of their desk time at the office, but it doesn’t end there.
With the growth of digital and online gaming, more people are spending additional time at their desks after the 9-5 hustle has ended.
 
We’ve seen a large growth in the number of people playing online casino games, extending the
amount of time spent at the desk. At some point, this is understandable since technology has
duplicated many things from real life to the blue screens. People who enjoy sports and love
some fun time. For those who are not into gambling, there are esports options on online
platforms. This diversity is not bad but players need to be creative about their physical health.
Gaming is not an activity that requires sitting tight and playing, if those are not logical games. If
someone decides to spend time on gaming, why not do it on the exercise bike, for example? So,
there are always options to keep your physical activity in balance with your hobbies, just don’t
be lazy and be aware of the importance of workouts.
A Changing Pace of Life
In recent years, there's been a large change from active sports and more passive interests.
Before, you may meet up with your friends to play sports in the park, but now with the
convenience of the Internet and online games, passive activities have much more of a draw on
sports fans – while still providing the same adrenaline rush and excitement that you'd get
playing a game in the park.

1. Arm Circles
Stand up or sit down with your hands stretched out on both sides, in line with your shoulders.
Start to move your arms in circles, do ten sets with them circling clockwise and a further ten sets
with them rotating anti-clockwise.
 
After a few sets, you should start to feel the burn the whole way down your arm. Repeat the sets
as many times as you’d like or, to increase the intensity of the workout, add some small wrist
2. Keep Your Steps Up
You may think it’s impossible to get your steps up when you’re at work but, we’re seeing a lot of
people getting standing desks so they can use under-desk treadmills and walking pads –
allowing them to walk and work at the exact same time.
Walking pads can be stored away easily and brought out every time you’re starting to feel like
you could go for a walk. Simply wheel the device at your feet, raise the height of your standing
desk, and start walking! This way you can keep up with your step challenges, without having to
take a break from your important tasks.
3. Calf Raises
With your feet planted on the floor, slowly lift yourself up to a tip-toe position and lower yourself
back down again – this is how simple it is to do some calf raises.
For a quick stretch, you could perform this exercise while you’re sitting in your seat. But, for the
full effect, it’s best to stand up so you can feel the muscles throughout your calves working.
4. Desk Squats
When you’ve been sitting at a desk for too long, your legs can start to feel heavy and a bit sore
so stretch them out a bit by doing a few sets of desk squats.
These are the same as normal squats – just at your desk! Move your chair out of your way and
do 10 reps at a time, repeating for as many sets as you can manage.
5. Seated Bicycle Crunches
For the final exercise, you don’t even need to leave your seat to get a good ab burn. From your
seat position, put your hands to your forehead and start lifting each knee to the opposite elbow
as you would a usual bicycle crunch.
 
You should start to feel the burn in your abs almost immediately, but continue the exercise by
  • doing 10 reps on each side, then repeating.
