Workout Tracker/ Exertion questions
First off, I absolutely love this site! I have a question about the workout tracker. I noticed today that when you enter a cardio workout into the tracker, the "exertion level" you choose doesnt change the overall calorie burn. I would think using an Elliptical Trainer for an hour at 130 heart rate would net less calorie burn than doing the same hour at a 165 heartrate.
How accurate is the workout tracker for calories burned? Just today I entered a 40 minute cardio exersise and it showed I had burned 377 cals, but the elliptical trainer showed I had burned 553 cals. I can enter my weight, age, and if im male or female into the elliptical before starting. It also tracks my heart rate.
Suggestion for site admins or program designers.... Have a place where a member can enter there "resting heart rate" so when they enter their exertion level for the exersise, it can calculate calories burned based on HEART RATE, as well as duration, age, weight, gender...etc.
I am 230 lbs, male, resting heart rate around 80bpm. I have a BMI if 33ish, and I keep my heart rate between 160-170 during my sessions on the elliptcal. I normal get 4.2-4.3 miles in the 60 minutes I am on the machine, with a total calorie burn of 830ish according to the machines readout.

RE: hooligan24
We are currently working on a feature that will allow users to manually enter their calories burned. However, this feature is still in it's early development and we do not have a firm date for it's launch.
As for the discrepancy between the calories burned listed on your Tracker page and the machine you worked out on, it must be noted that both are estimates based on the information entered, and neither reading is an exact calculation. We strive to give the most accurate information, however, everyone's body is different and burns calories at different rates, therefore it is almost impossible to give a precise value for calories burned.
