I recently signed up for Meetup.com looking for a book club or some other dorky thing like that. While browsing, I found a group that meets a few times a week locally and plays Ultimate Frisbee. I went to the first ever all women's game on Saturday, and it was awesome! The skill levels varied considerably, but it was laid-back enough that everyone got to play and enjoy themselves. The rules were eased up so that the game was a little less competetive than I played in college, but I think that really helped with making everyone feel included.

So this is something I really recommend. Look at social group site like meetup.com, meetin.com, or even craigslist for activity groups like this. I got in some great cardio, and I met a few people as well. People in these sorts of groups are very welcoming, and even if you don't know the rules or have never played the sport, you'll still likely have a good time learning something new. I'm always looking for new ways to stay active and motivated, and it's nice to remind myself that people do these sorts of things for fun.
