After changing jobs two years ago, it has become more difficult to maintain and lose weight. My prior job as an academic physician required constant walking and standing for approx 12 hours/day. Additionally, I had a gym membership which I used to go approx 3-4 week and workout for 1-1.5 hours each visit. Back then, I used to eat anything with minimal weight gain. Now for the past two years, I have a sedentary sitting job with a two hour commute/day. Additionally, due to the long commute have not joined a gym as cannot spend additional time traveling to and from the gym. During this time interval have gained 10 lbs and am not able any longer to eat anything my heart desires as the weight just continues to go up. Suspect this is due to a combination of loss of muscle mass, decreased activity and decreased time exercising where at most am doing about 30 minutes 3 times/week. Also think that there may be a hormonal component as a result of aging. So I have set up a home gym. Included in the gym is a pull-up bar, spin bike, treadmill, exchangable dumbbells and a fitness ball to improve my fitness and health level. Also have several DVD workout tapes to use when am feeling bored and unmotivated. I have also purchase the Jackie Warner book, this is why you are fat and will document a 30 day challenge following the fitness and diet tips in the book. The goal will be 20 minutes of interval training 5 days/week, 30 minutes of weight training 3 days a week and 2 days off. Over the next month will document progress and challenges encountered by following the plan. Currently I weigh 141 lbs, am 5 ft 3. Clothing size 6-8. Will document measurements on the site Would appreciate any feedback or suggestions.
