I learned from a nutrionalist last week that eating the protein part of your meal first will help you feel satisfied longer. Also, don't drink anything with your meals (liquid helps food digest faster). She said it was also important to have protein with every meal. So far it seems to be helping.

In addition to chosing lower calorie foods, I am watching my portions. I went out to eat with friends this weekend. My best friend couldn't believe I was order from the Nutrition Guide instead of the regular menu. I think it is great and I try things that wouldn't have caught my eye from the regular menu.

I have been working hard to stay up on my feet and busy for the last month. It really started to show this weekend. I couldn't make myself sit down! lol I have a lot more energy and I don't get exhausted and sore from regular activities anymore. I also have been making myself walk faster when I am out and about. Now I find myself passing "thin" people on the sidewalks and pathways at work because I am walking faster than them. And I'm not as out of breath and my shins don't hurt as much. Yeah Me!

Last week I attended the informational meeting for weight loss surgery.  I want to get a Lap Band.  I think it will really help me decrease my appetite.  I know that I have to figure out how to beat my emotional eating.  But, I've been working on that.  I asked my doctor yesterday to refer me for the surgery and he did.  Please keep your fingers crossed that Kaiser will approve me for surgery.

Until then I am widdling my diet down to the preop diet recommended for the Lap Band surgery.  It is really hard to reduce my appetite.
