So, two days after my last entry, I fell down a flight of stairs and sprained my ankle severely, and had a removable cast for 2 months. Talk about a morale and self-esteem killer. It changed my life and my views on everything, going back to college on crutches. I didn't gain or lose any weight, but I did lose a lot of tone in my legs and stomach (except for my more dominant leg). I tried to do pike-ups on my bed since I couldn't get up off the floor easily from crutches, and that did help me maintain somewhat of a core, but I still get flabby pretty easily. I don't run anymore, I only do ellipticals, swimming, and cycling for cardio, but I feel I burn calories faster on those than on a treadmill anyway. Running only gives me annoying pain in my ankle now, even after PT and stretching, unfortunately. I'm still about 132 lbs in weight, and go through periods of being comfortable and uncomfortable with my body. And while on crutches I had an extreme upper body (my back muscles were ripped!!). I have been able to officially work out since March 11th, and have been trying to slowly get back into my old routine since then- I have only until now been working out about 3 days a week, but I'm hoping to get a work out in every Monday through Friday, starting this week. I was able to burn 850 calories in an hour yesterday on the elliptical without pain, so I'm thinking I will try that again tonight, after I have eaten plenty of protein (chicken sandwich for dinner, chicken wrap for lunch). This past week I have been eating a lot because of Easter candy and stress, so I'm trying to wear my retainers when I'm not hungry and help myself realize WHEN I'm not hungry. Hope I can burn about 800 calories tonight on cardio and do a lot more strength training, plus have time to sit in the sauna for 20 minutes. Time to get packed up and go, gym is only open til 11 and I need to get a workout in! Here's hoping I can keep this blog to keep myself motivated again. XX
