A lot has happened this week. The lab results came back, and Doc says I have elevated cholesterol, blood pressure, and blood sugar, all for the first time. I have also had quite a bit of nerve pain down my leg as I walk, so I am not able to do the fast walks I normally handle. On the plus side, I lost 4 lbs. the first week, all on the doctor's scale and fully clothed. The second week I weighed in on my own scale, unclothed, and the result was 168. First time at Doc's was 176. That's quite a loss in two weeks! But I think a lot of it was bloat. I'm trying to get back into the weight lifting even if I can't walk well right now. The only way to keep off the weight is to rebuild muscle as well as lose fat. I think the elevated sugar is what is causing the energy sag. I'm watching carbs and sugar - but I can't be entirely starch-free, because of the IBS. i am using Good Housekeeping's Mediterranean Diet this week - I feel much less deprived than on the low-carb diet from the first week. We'll see how the sugar is affected!
