For years, I have been overweight, it's always been that way. I was used to being heavy but not completely obese. I had a partial hysterectomy in Dec. 2011 & have been recovering from an ankle injury (making it hard to run/walk for long periods) since then I have put on 30 pounds and none of my habits had changed. It was time to do something about it. I radically changed my diet, cut out processed foods, cooked more then eating out, having several healthy snacks throughout the day as opposed to one or two meals at the most. I reduced my caloric intake from 2200 to 1500 for 2 months and nothing, not a pound.
I used to be one who didn't go to the doctor unless I was sick. Well, after gaining all the weight, I started going to the doctor for a battery of bloodwork..I was worried about thyroid issues, menopause setting in, or perhaps something else. Turned out all of my bloddwork was perfect, even my cholesterol, which I wasn't expecting (this was before my diet changes).
My doctor was stumped as well, he of course encouraged regular exercise to help, but we discussed that with my ankle I would have to take it easy. He decided to prescribe Phentermine 37.5mg once a day. I'm on day 4 of this drug, my appetite has gone down signifcantly & I'm down 4 pounds, So far I'm impressed with this drug. However there are side effects, the big one is constant dry mouth, which forces me to drink more water, something I never do. Major headache if I drink any caffine, which is a good motivator to kick pop out of diet.
