Need to get moving!

I've been mulling over a few ways to make more time to exercise. Like many people, I feel like my day is already full and that I simply cannot make time for anything else. However, the reality is that what we do is prioritize those items we feel are most important, and attempt to get those done in the day.

When I take a hard look at myself, I wonder if my desire to vacuum the master bedroom each day is motivated by necessity or if is a clever excuse to avoid making time for the treadmill in the basement... I used to think it was because I wanted the bedroom is be very clean all the time, but seriously, is that an achievable goal? No, of course not - because it's never going to be clean enough for me to get past that and feel like it's time to exercise. This isn't right. I need to set myself some reasonable expectations for cleaning the house so that I can feel like it's good enough to move on to my treadmilling time. I'll be working on that and on delegating some of this stuff to my partner.

I will be setting up a new FitBit in the coming days. Being motivated by numbers, I suspect that seeing the number of calories burned during the course of the day will be a very good incentive to keep striving for more. Strangely, I'm most interested in seeing what it tells me about my habit of walking down the equivalent of about 45 flights of stairs each day (I work on the 9th floor, and my back is too sore to walk up stairs but I'm okay to go down many times per day). I guess we'll see.
