Fasting

I have been thinking about a diet that I read about where you fast for like 16 hours a day and then eat only between 600 to 800 cals a day. I dont know how long I can do it for but it might help me lose weight fast. I know I need to reduce my carbs, and I try to drink alot of water every day. and with some exercise maybe I can drop weight quicker. has any one else tried fasting? and did it work ?
