Putting the (modestly) improved body through it's paces

Ok.  I've said tons about why I hate working out.  I have not said a word about the benefits yet.

So, here's the thing:  I always loved playing baseball/softball.  I played baseball in HS, and into my first year of college (I had to work my final three years to pay my own way) and I still play on three softball teams.  Of course the season started about two/three weeks ago, and I've been so busy with my kids seasons/communions/mothers days that I've not had a chan

4 pounds a month...1 pound a week

Here is the scorecard for me:

On November 5th I weighed 210 lbs.
Today (which is one week short of 6 months of working out) I weigh 186 lbs.  Thats 24 lbs total (4 lbs a month/1 lb. a week).

I'm actually not mad.  4 lbs a month is pretty good considering all of the weight training I'm doing.  I figure I've added at least 4-5 lbs of muscle in the time I've been working out.  I'm trading fat for muscle.

I still hate working out though.  It literally

Workout Theatre

Ok, Golds is a nice, very middle of the road Gym.  I have to admit that I do love this Surround Theatre through.  They have tons of cardio equipment set up in a large home theatre set up.  Yesterday I watched that Michael Clayton movie.  I swear that my workout felt like it only took 10 minutes, because I was so absorbed into the movie.

If you don't have a Gold's Gym membership you should check it out....

Feel Strong

It was nice to go to the gym yesterday.  I got on the eliptical (I have notoriously bad knees, and two compressed discs from running cross-country in high school/college) and did my 45 minutes of torture without feeling too exhausted.  Got through my workout, without missing too many reps.  Even had enough energy to work in some extra reps on arms.  

I'm looking stronger too.  Arms and chest have a nice pump.  Nee

Whiners

I hate whiners.  I have my own problems, and I really don't want to hear someone else's.  But this is what I'm subjected to, because I try to be civil with my work out mates at Golds.  "Joe" is a great guy.  He spots me from time to time, and while we don't really socialize outside the gym, he seems for the most part like a decent person.
