Two weeks of the flu and a funeral and I gained all my wait back.  Back to 148.  Back to losing 20 lbs.  Back to the start...

Ok. Get over it.  Moving on...I have a wedding to go to in a month that needs my prioritized, urgent attention.  I have planned on the next four weeks - 1 hour training sessions 6 days a week to catch up to where I was...and to look smokin' at the wedding...here we go!

Gratification & Gratitude

My girlfriends invited me to happy hour at our favorite wine bar.  It had been a while since we went out, and it was payday (woop woop!), but I said, "Sorry, ladies. I have a date with Bikram."  Yes, I skipped happy hour with my ladies for yoga.  Something like this would've been unheard of a few months ago.  I've slowly realized that it's the small decisions that make the most impact, for the good or the bad, for one path or another.  Tonight, I wasn't so sure...

What do I really want?

 Unrated

I really want to be a comfortable size 4, which means at least a 10 lb weight loss.  At 2 lbs per week I have a limit of 950 net calories per day.  Which means...I eat 1400 and burn at least 450 calories exercising.  So 1400 calories of food to eat and I run 4 miles and do weights.  That's not so bad!  4 miles a day or an hour of cross training.  OK...so why is this so hard?  It's really...

Hot Yoga vs Hot Toddy

 Unrated
Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at 1:20 AM filed under Exercise & Fitness postings
I so craved a hot toddy after work today.  After reading loads of strange, life-pondering emails from my staff and having my emotions, thoughts, and hormones pulled in a million different directions, all I wanted to do was walk to the snazzy cocktail lounge across the street, put my feet up, and suck down a hot toddy.  The rain had started pouring and the wind blew my hair all ...

Bikram Yoga

Wow. I didn't know how unflexible I was until I did Bikram Yoga (hot yoga). I always thought of myself as a "yoga type" person, but hadn't maintained a practice at it.  While I loved the spiritual, mind-calming, effects of yoga, the hatha and other varieties that the gym offered, after a while, were just so BORING!  I wasn't challenged and was too preoccupied with watching everyone else (dang, cute yoga pants...nice ass...that person is r...

Beyond the Half Marathon

I completed my second half-marathon on Sunday.  This time, I did it alone, with my family waiting for me at the finish line.  It was amazing...a beautiful run.  The feeling of accomplishment cannot be beat by anything.  Actually, it's probably on par with reaching my goal weight.  I am SO determined to do so in the 17 days before my vacation!  Wish me luck...my plan is to keep under 1500 calories/day and do AM and PM workouts.  Weights every other day, and high...

Thanksgiving...The Good Stuff

Now for the great stuff about Thanksgiving.  My Mom looked especially beautiful and healthy.  She's been swimming lately and was glowing today...It's so amazing and wonderful to see how much she's changed since taking care of herself a little more and getting a trainer.  She is so much happier with herself.  I'm a momma's girl...I am so thankful for my Mom in so many ways.  She always let me choose my own path in life.  She never scolded me when I was chain-smoking ...

Thanksgiving...Ugh

Every year I get push-back from my extended fam for not eating beef and pork.  I eat the turkey, and yet they still find a reason to bring up the issue.  I was going to stop eating chicken and turkey unless I knew that the animals came from a farm that practices humane and organic animal raising and killing.  But it was too stressful to keep having to defend myself at EVERY family function.  After years of being a sort-of vegetarian (I hate labels) and making conscious e...
