PSYCHOLOGY OF A SMART DIET posted by Tamar Schreibman Friday, May 29, 2009 at 2:58 PM filed under diet postings. I just read this article and I can't recommend it enough. There is a suggestion that you make a rule for yourself that you can have any treat that you want, but you have to eat it in an unusual setting, like the garage for example. There were other great pointers too, but this is the one that stood out for me. Another suggestion is that we have no-food zones. No eating at the computer, in front of the TV, etc. You have to eat at the dining room table, period. That would certainly impact my eating. It also discusses that "grazing" throughout the day or eating several small meals a day aren't so good for impulse-control issues. I like the suggestion to eat dessert first, that way you aren't stuffing yourself with dessert after a full meal. If you're going to eat it anyway, strategize. I like that.
