Two and Half Years Later

It has been a while since I blogged here and a long and circuitous path. Yesterday, I was exchanging my winter wardrobe for my summer wardrobe and came across the clothes I wore to take photos when I started this weight loss plan in September 2012.


While the photo is a bit blurry and reminded me that I should get a better phone, it also served as amazing motivation for me!

Nine Weeks In and Still Going Strong!

November 15th was nine weeks into my new love me lifestyle! I have never managed to stick with a diet that long in my whole life. So I found myself trying to figure out why this time is different. Here are my thoughts.

1. I am actively trying to lose weight

In the past, I have always "dieted" by foregoing food. This time, I actively sought to find healthful foods to replace the high calorie, low nutrient choices

Week 6 and Its a New World

Yesterday was six weeks into my loving myself lifestyle! I started a new job this week and then received and accepted an offer for another job two days into starting my first job! I gave notice at my first job yesterday and will start my new new job on November 5. 

I must admit that I found these changes to my routine to be a challenge to staying focused. It would be easier to get home from work, followed by the gym, to just grab a  high calorie valueless dinner. I hav

Week 4 and I Finally Believe!

Last Saturday I was unable to get to the gym for my planned workout because my car sprung an antifreeze leak and a friend was coming by to take a look at it in exchange for dinner. Now that's a deal I can't pass up. He spent the better part of the day trying to find the leak, but to no avail. No leak was located. Three Weeks In

I'm feeling pretty great at the three week mark for several reasons.

1) While the site shows that I have only lost five pounds, I have actually lost eight pounds six ounces as of this morning! Go me!! After I did my initial weigh-in on the site, I bought  new, more accurate, and consistent scale which showed me as being three pounds six ounces heavier than my initial weigh in weight. Mindfulness and Thoughtfulness

I am two weeks into my new life as a thin person! I have seen positive progress and, at this juncture, remain motivated and aware that the benefits outweigh the disadvantages. A happy morning!

Yesterday was my birthday. My significant other, Tom, brought home gorgeous multi-colored roses and a chocolate birthday cake. I have not shared with him that I am watching what I eat because weight has always been a delicate subject between us. Therefore, he was unaware that a big chocolate cake was not my heart's desire.

More Successes and Happinesses (Is that a word?)

First the success....So, it's football day! A day to eat buffalo wings and drink beer. Its a tradition, a ritual! I promised myself that I would not deny myself this ritual. I chose to forego the ritual today and attempt to start new one. I promised myself that, if the new plan didn't make me happy, I would order wings at half-time.

Back to my starting point!

I got weighed yesterday morning and I was down 0.4 pounds from the day before when I bought my new scale which betrayed me by setting me back 3.6 pounds from my original starting weight. This morning when I got weighed, I was back to my starting weight!!! I couldn't be happier! Hope the new scale is working properly!

First Setback or the Illusion Thereof
