Water Water Everywhere

If you aren't drinking your water (all your water) you are working against yourself on your quest for good health. Obviously, drinking water keeps you from becoming dehydrated. Not so obviously, if you are not drinking enough fluids, your body will retain water. Can we say water weight gain?
- Hungry? Try a glass of water first. It's not always hunger.
- Tired? Try a glass of water before reaching for a caffeinated drink. Dehydration can make you feel tired.
- Feel a bit dizzy? Have a glass of water, you may simply be dehydrated.
- Constipated? Step up your water consumption and give your intestines something to work with.
- Taking medication? Make sure you are drinking enough of the right fluids to metabolize them properly.
- Had a cocktail? You can't count that as part of your water. You might, in fact, want to add one more cup of water to avoid the dehydration that alcohol can cause.
- Wrinkled? Drink 8 to 10 glasses per day for a week and see if you haven't lost a few of those creases.
Water is miraculous stuff. Drinking all your water doesn't have to be boring either. It's not just the clear plain water that counts towards your intake for the day. Herbal tea, sugar free soft drinks (although the jury is still out on diet soda), milk, or juice also count towards your water intake. Just make sure you track the calories, carbs, or fat that might be included if you are drinking milk or juice.
